In the Hagiographical Tradition
The wider Orthodox hagiographical tradition concerning the Apostles is also preserved in The Lives of the Holy Apostles, an English collection drawn chiefly from the Menology of Saint Dimitri of Rostov and the Great Synaxaristes of the Orthodox Church.
Historical Record and Ecclesiastical Tradition
Acts 15–18 is the primary record for Silas as a leader of the Jerusalem Church, bearer of the apostolic decree and companion of Paul at Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea and Corinth. His identification with Silvanus in the Pauline letters and 1 Peter is ancient and widely received but is stated as identification rather than a separate explicit declaration by Acts; later episcopal traditions remain hagiographical.
